…Igbos, others will be involved

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kogi State, Senator Dino Melaye has said that if he emerges the governor of the state, he will run an inclusive government.

The former lawmaker said that Igbo people and other nationalities like Idoma, Tiv, etcetera, will be part of his government.,

Melaye while speaking on Arise TV on Wednesday said, “We are going to run an inclusive government. It is not going to be only the Ebiras, Okuns, Igalas, but the Igbos in the State, will fill their part of my government because there are Igbos who have lived even more than people who call themselves natives in Kogi State.

He added, “Also other nationalities, the Tivs, the Idomas who are in Kogi State will participate. We will run an inclusive government where by the special grace of God our sorrows of living in Egypt would have been forgotten. We are going to cross the Red Sea to the land of Cannan.”

Speaking of his preparedness to run an inclusive government, Melaye said, “Dino is not going to be an Igala man, Dino is not going to be an Ebira man, or Okun man, but Dino will be a Kogi man, and we are going to make sure that by the special grace of God we have a new Kogi State, where equity and justice will become the order of the day.”

On the politics of zoning in Kogi, he said, “Considering the three senatorial districts in Kogi State, Kogi-East, Kogi-West and Kogi-Central, the Kogi-East has produced governor for 16 years, and the Kogi-Central at the expiration of this unproductive government would have served for eight years while the Kogi-West has never produced a governor in Kogi State,

He added, “The East having spent 16 years and the Central having spent eight years, it is proper that the governorship be zoned to Kogi-West.

“I have tremendous respect for the PDP in the centre, and in the primaries that we just concluded, no aspirant picked governorship form from the Central, even though we have a lot of people who can be governor from the PDP in the central because they believe that it should go to the West, which is why I ran in the first place. It was zoned to the West to support it to produce the Governor for the sake of peace, harmony, equity and justice,

“It is fair and proper for us in the West to produce the next governor, and I believe that by the special grace of God he has a purpose for giving the ticket to the West but it is not going to be a west agenda,” he said.
