Police operatives serving in Abakpa Division of the Enugu State Police Command working with personnel of the Neighborhood Watch Group have arrested 3 male suspects for vandalizing the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company transformers and other public assets.
The Police Public Relations officer DSP Daniel Ndukwe in the Command’s official twitter handle signed and dated 7th May 2023 state,
“On 30th April 2023 at about 4am, three male suspects namely Chidera Eze aged 25, Ifesi Agbo aged 23 and Arinze Akoma aged 20 were arrested while they were vandalizing the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, Transformer at Church Road Housing Estate, Abakpa-Nike Enugu.”
“The suspects who are specialized in vandalizing Transformers and other public assets, confessed to the crime while the tricycle they used for operation, rubber hand gloves, spanners, adjustable wrenches and other workshop tools were recovered from them.”
DSP Ndukwe also stated further discreet investigation in the case is ongoing at the state CID and the culprits will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
Meanwhile, the command has also recovered a locally fabricated cut-to-size gun loaded with one live cartridge, abandoned by armed robbery suspects at New Artisan, Enugu.
Following credible information from the Neighborhood Watch Group who alerted the Police on sighting the criminals, the Operatives responded swiftly but unfortunately they escaped leaving behind their gun.
The fabricated gun was recovered 6th of May 2023 at about 1.30am.
