The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, has administered the oath of office on Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima as the 16th President and Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which took place at the Eagles Square in Abuja, on Monday

Government officials, Diplomatic corps, and esteemed guests from across the nation witnessed the event.

The national and defense flags have been lowered, symbolizing the conclusion of the previous administration, and later handed over to former President Muhamadu Buhari.

Chief of Defence Staff, Leo Irabor, presented the flags to Buhari, while new flags, representing the nation and defense, have been raised, marking the beginning of a new administration.

Ex-President Buhari waved at guests as he entered his car, preparing to depart from the inauguration venue. His immediate destination is the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, as he embarks on his journey to Daura, Katsina State.

The ceremony is a celebration of democracy and the peaceful transition of power.

Meanwhile, former President Muhammadu Buhari has left for Daura, Katsina State, after officially handing over to Bola Ahmed Tinubu earlier today.

He entered the presidential jet, with his wife, Aisha Buhari, and son, Yusuf.

The departure signifies the conclusion of his presidential term and marks the beginning of a new chapter under the leadership of President Tinubu.

As he heads back to Daura, Buhari transitions from his role as the nation’s head of state to a private citizen, returning to his roots and the place he calls home.
