To reduce cases of irregular migration and human trafficking among Nigerians, the Journalists International Forum on Migration (JIFORM) has urged the Tinubu administration to ensure decent job negotiation for Nigerians across the world.

The forum in a statement on Monday by its President Dr Ajibola Abayomi said the creation of the Ministry for Diaspora Affairs would deepen the gains of human capital migration to the nation’s economy.

The statement reads in part: “Nigerians in diaspora have remitted over $16 billion in the last eight years sustaining Nigeria’s ranking as the highest earner in Sub-saharan Africa.

“We beg you not to close your eyes to the pains Nigerians are subjected to across the world in the name of labor migration. Kindly jettison the repeated theories or undue lamentations of the book makers and be bold to initiate a decent job negotiation with the employers of labor in the Middle East, Europe, and others to de-market human trafficking and irregular migration from Nigeria. Do this for history to continue to be kind to you sir.”

JIFORM, while congratulating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the 16th democratically elected President of Nigeria, expressed hope that the present government would improve the well-being of the nation by tapping from human resources that abound in the diaspora.
