The Commissioner of Police Enugu State Police Command, CP Ahmed Ammani has ordered the Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Commanders of PMF Squadron Bases, other Tactical and Operational Units of the Command, to deploy her personnel and all operational and intelligence resources at their disposal to ensure safety of citizens as they comply to the state government directive to resume normal activities every Monday of the week in the state.

CP Ammani issued this command after the Enugu State Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s directive to all schools, markets, banks, retail outlets, hospitals, transporters, malls and the general members of the public to go about their normal activities every day of the week including Mondays which hitherto had been a sit-at-home day ordered by IPOB to register her displeasure in the incarceration of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu;

The order issued by the state government reveals that members of the government’s taskforce will monitor compliance even as adequate security measures had been put in place to secure lives and properties of residents.

To this effect, the Commissioner charged the Supervisory Officers and personnel under them to patrol all nooks and crannies of the state and take proactive policing actions so as to forestall possible adverse activities of undesirable criminal elements.

CP Ammani further revealed that the operations to end the illegal Sit-at-home order will be jointly executed by the Police, the Military, and other Security Agencies in the State.

He then warns, “Unrepentant and subversive criminal elements, known to have in recent times murdered fellow brothers and sisters, destroyed their property and disrupted the social and economic well-being of their people without conscience, in the name of enforcing the inconceivable illegal Sit-at-home order, should turn over a new leaf, as the Security Forces shall not spare any person or individuals found wanting.”

The CP also enjoins citizens of the State to cooperate with the Police and the Joint Security Forces to end the sit-at-home on Mondays while urging them to promptly report criminals and their activities on such days and beyond to the nearest Police Station.
