The retired Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Abdulrasheed Abubakar has handed over the baton of leadership to the Deputy Executive Secretary, Chris Maiyaki.
The handing-over ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Commission over the weekend.
Recall that Prof. Abubakar voluntarily stepped down from the Commission as Executive Secretary on Tuesday.
He noted that he was heading back to the Bayero University, Kano (BUK) to continue his career in lecturing.
However, no reason was given for his resignation, he had up to three years to the expiration of his second tenure in the Commission.
Abubakar is expected to resume his new appointment as a classroom teacher at the Bayero University Kano, effective, the 1st of June 2023.
Maiyaki, while giving his acceptance speech, described Prof. Abubakar as a trailblazer in university education, and wished him well in his future endeavours.
