After 17 months in prison, suspended high-ranking Nigerian Police officer, Abba Kyari has been granted bail.
Kyari was granted bail on Thursday by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Justice Omotosho granted a conditional bail of N50 million with two sureties in like sum to Kyari in a charge against him and his two brothers, Mohammed Baba Kyari and Ali Kyari, by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, for failing to declare their assets.
His brothers were earlier granted bail by Justice Omotosho.
The bail notwithstanding, The West African Pilot News gathered that Kyari will remain incarcerated because of the stalling of his bail application in a sister-case in which he is being tried with four others for drug trafficking.
The case is before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja, who have denied him bail twice.
Kyari was arrested and has been in custody since 14 February 2022.
