Nearly a week after sending the first batch of minister-nominees to the Senate for ratification, President Bola Tinubu has sent another list comprising 19 names.
The list was delivered to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio by Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, on Wednesday.
The new list contains nominees from the eleven states, namely Adamawa, Bayelsa, Gombe, Kano, Kebbi, Kogi, Lagos, Plateau, Osun, Yobe and Zamfara which did not get a slot in the former list.
Most notable of the nominees are former governors Adegboyega Oyetola (Osun), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Simon Lalong (Plateau) and Bello Matawalle (Zamfara).
Other nominees include Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo (Kano), Tunji Alausa (Lagos), Uba Maigari Ahmadu (Taraba), Lola Ade John (Lagos), Ishak Salako (Ogun), Heineken Lolokpobri (Bayelsa), Yusuf Tanko Sununu (Kebbi).
Tahir Mamman (Adamawa) Zephaniah Bitrus Jisalo (FCT), Ibrahim Geidam (Yobe), Bosun Tijjani (Ogun), Maryam Shetti (Kano), Shuaibu Abubakar Audu (Kogi), Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi (Niger), and Alkali Ahmed Saidu (Gombe).
In a letter (containing the nominees) to the Senate, President Tinubu asked the the senators to “expeditiously” screen and confirm the nominees for various ministerial positions.
Meanwhile, the Senate began screening the first batch of ministerial nominees on Monday.
Nyesom Wike, former governor of Rivers State; David Umahi, Senate deputy majority leader and former governor of Ebonyi State; and Dele Alake, the special adviser to the President on special duties, communications and strategy, are among those who have been screened so far
