Job seekers in the Federal Character commission (FCC) have paid millions of naira into the personal account of a former IPPIS desk officer with the commission, Haruna Kolo for onward transmission to the Chairman, Mrs Muyeebat Dankaka.

He made the revelation on Monday when he appeared before the House of Representatives adhoc Committee investigating the mismanagement of the IPPIS system and Job racketeering, Kolo said he “usually approached” Point of Sale (POS) agents to collect the money in cash for onward delivery to Mrs Dankaka.

Mr Kolo, now a staff with the Assets Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON), explained that the Chairman appointed him as her chief protocol while serving in the FCC.

“Some of those who came to seek for job in the commission pay as much as between N1 million and N5 million depending on the MDAs.

“I have never been involved in selling job; i only act on the instruction of Dankaka who is always receiving the money in cash.

“She often gives me verbal instructions in respect of people paying for jobs and lodging which, after collecting the agreed amount, will be sent to my account which I subsequently cashed to remit the money.

“My redeployment to AMCON was not without the knowledge of the chairman of the commission. My going to AMCON was her personal favour to me and others that left FCC at the time,” Kolo said.

He, however, accused Mrs Dankaka of going after him following her sister’s rejection at AMCON due to what he said “age factor”, adding that the woman in question was already 51 years old at the time she was given the job at AMCON.

He also said contrary to the Chairman’s claim that FCC had not carried out any recruitment exercise since he assumed office, Mr Kolo said: “It is a lie.”

He said “as an IPPIS desk officer at the FCC, the commission carried out recruitment exercises in which over 300 letters of employment were issued although those captured by FCC were few”.

But on her part, the Chairman of the FCC Mrs Dankaka denied the allegations, saying she did not receive any money from Mr Kolo, claiming that Kolo’s accusation was part of a conspiracy between him and the other commissioners to tarnish her image.

The Chairman of the committee, Yussuf Gagdi, informed Mr Kolo that the committee was already in possession of evidence showing that he (Mr Kolo) has N38.5 million in his account, which was withdrawn from POS.

He added that there is evidence that a total of N75 million was in Mr Kolo’s Access, UBA and Eco Bank accounts as proceeds of job-racketeering.

Gagdi ordered the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the Chairman of AMCON, where Mr Kolo currently works, to appear before the committee today, Tuesday, for continuation of the probe.
