With less than 24 hours to the swearing-in ceremony, President Bola Tinubu has reassigned portfolios to six ministers-designate.
President Tinubu also approved the renaming of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Ecological Management as the Federal Ministry of Environment.
Ajuri Ngelale, special adviser to the President on media and publicity, announced the new developments via a communiqué on Sunday night.
According to the statement, Abubakar Momoh, who was previously designated as the minister of youth, is now the minister of Niger Delta development. No
Adegboyega Oyetola, formerly the minister of transportation-designate, is now the minister of marine and blue economy and Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, who was previously assigned as the minister of marine and blue economy, has been reassigned to the ministry of interior.
Additionally, Sa’idu Alkali, initially designated as the minister of interior, has been reassigned to the ministry of transportation.
Ngelale said that both ministers of state in the oil and gas sector are now domiciled in the federal ministry of petroleum resources with the following designations: Heineken Lokpobiri is the minister of state (oil), petroleum resources and Ekperipe Ekpo is the minister of state (gas), petroleum resources.
Lokpobiri was previously appointed as the minister of state, petroleum resources while Ekpo was earlier named the minister of state, gas resources.
These changes take immediate effect, said the presidential spokesperson.
All 45 ministers-designate have completed their documentation process at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in preparation for their inauguration today. The documentation began on Saturday and ended on Sunday.
