NewsNigeriaPoliticsAdamawa State Government To Partner With GIZ On Issues Affecting Women, Girl Child

Adamawa state government pledged to partner with German Agency for International Cooperation GIZ for successful implementation of its projects in the state which mainly focused on investing in women and girl child particularly IDPs and returnees.
The German Agency for International Cooperation GIZ is an international initiative owned by the German Government operating in 130 countries including Nigeria in many fields that offers demand-driven, tailor-made and effective services for sustainable development.
Among areas the organization made intervention in Adamawa State are economic development, governance and democracy, security, reconstruction, peace building and civil conflict transformation, climate change mitigation, food security, health and basic education.
Officials from German Development Cooperation have now embarked on supervising the first phase of their projects in Adamawa to assess the progress done so far and chart a new course for the execution of more developmental projects.
Receiving the delegation in her office, acting Governor of Adamawa State Prof Kaletapwa Farauta explained that, Adamawa state has felt the impact of the organization in diverse ways, pledged to continue partnering with them especially in areas targeting issues affecting women and the girl child.
Prof Farauta emphasized the need to empower those displaced by conflicts or any disaster for them to have a sense of belonging and described gender project for IDPs and returnees as a welcome development.
The State Executive Chairman, Planning Commission Dr.Mary Paninga said the organization has executed over 129 projects spread across the 21 LGAs.
Dr. Markus Wagnerer, the country director of the organization, said the visit is to have an overview of the first phase of its activities and to commence the implementation of the second phase of the project which focuses on social protection of women and the girl child, especially IDPs and returnees in Adamawa State.
He expressed the determination of the organization to always complement government efforts by empowering the IDPs and returnees, to improve the economic status of those devastated by disaster.
Dr. Wagnerer lauded the present administration for creating an enabling environment for business to thrive and implementation of developmental projects.
