United Nigeria Airlines has received approval from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, to fly passengers to six foreign countries including the United States of America, United Kingdom, Italy, Netherlands, Ireland and the United Arab Emirates.

In a letter of approval dated September 8, 2023, and signed by Director of Air Transport, Mr. H. T. Ejiburu, the approval, the Ministry said, is in line with subsisting agreement between Nigeria and each of the foreign countries under the Bilateral Air Services Agreement – BASA.

Part of the letter reads, “I am directed to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated August 2, 2023, on the above subject and convey the Honourable Minister’s approval for the designation of Messrs. United Nigeria Arlines Company Limited to operate international flight to the under mentioned countries and cities: Netherlands (Amsterdam), Italy, (Rome), United Arab Emirates (UAE) United Kingdom (London), United States of America (Houston), and Ireland (Dublin)”.

However, United Nigeria is expected to proceed with completing documentation processes with the Civil Aviation Authority before it can commence flight to these new six foreign destinations.

United Nigeria Airlines, chaired by Anambra state born Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, commenced flight operations in 2021. Within two years of operation, the Airline has carved a niche for itself, with a fair share of passengers along its regular routes. This new approval will deepen the airline’s position as one of the major indigenous Nigerian airlines catering to the needs of passengers within and outside Nigeria.
