Katsina State High Court has ordered Ibrahim Musa Kaya to stop parading himself as Caretaker Committee Chairman of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) in Katsina State.
Report made available to our reporter on Wednesday, indicated that Justice Kabir Shu’Aibu also granted an interim order stopping the Independent National Electoral Commission from recognising Ibarhim Musa Kaya as Caretaker Chairman of the NNPP in Katsina State
Justice Shu’Aibu made the orders based on an ex-parte motion filed by Umar Ahmad Jibril, on behalf of himself, and the State, Local Government and Ward Executive Committees of the NNPP in Katsina State.
The High Court Judge also ordered the New Nigeria People Party to recognise only Umar Ahmad Jibril and the NNPP’s Executive Committee at the state, local government, and ward levels in Katsina State.
Joined in the motion as defendants include the New Nigeria People Party, the National Working Committee of the NNPP and the Katsina State Caretaker Committee Chairman of the NNPP, Ibrahim Musa Kaya.
The Independent National Electoral Committee (INEC), and the founder of the NNPP, Boniface Aniebonam, were equally joined as fourth and fifth defendants.
According to the court papers sighted by our correspondent, Justice Kabir Shu’Aibu, adjourned hearing of the motion on notice till October 26, 2023.
It will be recalled that the NNPP Executive in Katsina State is among the 10 State Executives of the party that were recently suspended by the factional National Working Committee of the party aligned with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso faction of the NNPP.
The court case in Katsina State is the latest in the fallouts of the face-off between the Kwankwaso faction of the NNPP and the Major Agbo-led Acting National Working Committee of the party, which is aligned with the NNPP founder, Boniface Aniebonam.
