The Department of State Services, DSS, has freed the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa.
Bawa has been in DSS custody since June 14 after his suspension from office by President Bola Tinubu.
Bawa’s suspension was due to “weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him,” according to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation [SGF].
The secret police detained him without charges until his release was announced by the secret police’s spokesperson Peter Afunanya late Wednesday.
