The Nigerian Army in collaboration with the Department of State Services, DSS, launched a surprise attack on Boko Haram terrorists in Kano State on Friday morning.
The terrorists were nesting at a hideout in the Gezawa district of the Northwest State ahead of a planned attack on residents.
Two Boko Haram fighters were arrested during the raid.
Five AK-47 rifles, five AK-47 rifle magazines, a rocket-propelled gun [RPG], five RPG bombs, six hand grenades, five pairs of desert camouflage uniforms, 10 pairs of magazine pouches and some improvised explosive device-making materials belonging to the insurgents were seized.
“The successful raid operation reinforces the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and the property of our citizens,” Army spokesperson Onyema Nwachukwu said in a statement shared on the Nigerian Army’s X page on Friday.
“The NA remains resolute in its effort to counter and degrade insurgency and other forms of security challenges across the country,” the Brigadier General added.
