Professor Kingsley Moghalu, former Deputy Governor of Nigeria’s Central Bank and President of the Institute for Governance and Economic Transformation – IGET, has been appointed the Chairman of the Africa Private Sector Summit – APSS, a pan-African organization, with a focus on creating an enabling business environment in Africa.
In the coming days, Moghalu will be the keynote speaker of the Joint African Continental Free Trade Agreement – AFCFTA private sector session, with the APSS, during the Intra-African Trade Fair, organized by the African Import-Export Bank (Afreximbank) in Cairo, Egypt’s capital. The Pan-African Chamber of Commerce and Industry – PACCI, the AFCFTA Policy Network – APN, and the Africa Educational Trust Fund – AETF, will be co-hosted in the private sector session where Prof. Kingsley Moghalu is the keynote speaker.
Among other issues of focus for this important conversation around the private sector in Africa, the Private Sector Bill of Rights and the Private Sector Enabling Business Environment in Africa, are the two top agendas of the conversation proposed by the APSS. It is expected that if an appreciable level of stability and predictability is achieved within the African business environment, more business opportunities will be opened for investors across Africa. This is in line with the AFCFTA with a vision to encourage intra-African trade, and possibly boost the same from the current 16% to over 50% in the coming years.
In line with ensuring enhanced intra-African trade, APSS also plans to interface with governments in Africa to ensure smooth intra-continental trade.
