The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has captured a notorious drug peddler in Abuja, Ibrahim Momoh seven years after he escaped from prison.
Momoh, who goes by the moniker Ibrahim Bendel, was initially arrested in 2014 with 385.1 kilogrammes of cannabis sativa.
He was convicted and got a seven-and-a-half-year prison sentence in July 2015, but he fled the prison in May 2016.
The NDLEA declared him wanted in November 2022 after he narrowly slipped off their fingers during a raid at his drug storehouse.
The fleeing ex-convict was again nabbed on November 5, 2023, when NDLEA agents paid a surprising visit at his hideout in the Dei-Dei area of Abuja, NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said in a statement on Sunday.
“The manhunt for the drug lord paid off on 5th November 2023 when operatives again raided his hideout at Filin Dabo, Dei-Dei area of Abuja where he was arrested with 56.9kgs of cannabis sativa and 42.7 grammes of Diazepam,” Babafemi said.
