Authorities of Covenant University in Ota, Ogun State, have approved a 20 per cent salary increase for staff which would take off in November.
The institution’s Board of Regents chaired by Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder and chancellor of the institution gave the nod which the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abiodun Adebayo described as a ‘compassionate decision.’
The Vice-Chancellor explained that the pay raise became necessary given the prevailing economic realities spurred by the removal of the petrol subsidy by the federal government in May.
Prof. Adebayo expressed optimism that the raise will boost the morale and commitment of the university’s workforce for effective service delivery.
