Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria have donated their one-month salaries amounting to N109 million to the victims of the drone attack that killed over 100 people at Tudun Biri in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
Sen. Jubrin Barau, the Deputy Senate President stated this on Sunday when he led some Senators on behalf of the Senate President to sympathize with the people of Kaduna State over the unfortunate incident.
He noted that the Red Chamber is concerned about the unfortunate incident that led to the wanton loss of lives
According to him, “In this hour of grief, we are with the people, the bereaved families, and the state government. On behalf of the Senate President, Goodwill Akpabio, and all the 109 senators, we want to express our heartfelt condolences to them.
“We also want to declare that all the senators—109 of us—have agreed to donate our one-month salaries to the victims of the unfortunate incident. We are therefore donating N109m.
Governor Senator Uba Sani of Kaduna State, in his response expressed pleasure at the prompt visit of both the executives and the legislative arms over the incident.
Sani also expressed displeasure over an attempt by some people to bring religious and ethnic sentiments to the attack.
The governor who said the issue has nothing to do with religion or ethnicity, said, “In Kaduna we’re not divided over religious faiths.
“Both Christians and Muslims are one, “he added.
The Governor also resolved that the state government would continue to support security agencies.
He appreciated the visit and also called for the creation of State Police.
