A 22 years old female health worker with Girei local government area of Adamawa State, Ms Florence Vandi has committed suicide few hours to the death of her boyfriend.
Late Florence, an indigent of Michika LGA and resides in Viniklang of Girei Local Govenment Area was said to have committed the crime in protest over the death of her suitor.
Spokesman of the Adamawa State Police Command SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje in a statement said late Ms Florence Vandi consumed a liquid substance suspected to be “Otapiyapiya”.
The statement reads in part: “The deceased took the unfortunate decision few hours to the death of her boyfriend kown Nuhu Boniface who died after a brief illness while receiving treatment at the Hospital.
The statement quoted the Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola as expressing sadness over the incident.
He advised members of the public to avoid taking laws into their hands.
