The Senator representing Anambra South senatorial zone, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, has supported Abatete in Idemili North local government area and Enugwu-Agidi, in Njikoka local government area, with gadgets to ensure seamless security networking in the two communities. The security support worth over N100 million Naira according to the senator, was to compliment the community efforts that were unveiled by the two communities on the first day of the year, to ensure the safety of their communities.

In Abatete, community efforts towards a safe and secure Abatete were coordinated by De Great Abatete Ambassadors – DGAA. The group has as members, mostly young successful businessmen and professionals in diverse works of life. Through community efforts, they were able to purchase five motorcycles and two Sienna vehicles for security patrol around the community. According to the group, their set target is to achieve a milestone of N100 million security trust fund.

Supporting their modest efforts, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah committed to offset half of the security trust fund target, by donating security gadgets worth at least N50 million Naira. Dr. Ubah donated 100 walkie-talkies, 10 motorcycles, 50 cameras, and 50 solar lights. While charging the community to take security more seriously by making even better investments into their own community’s safety, Sen. Ubah’s friends; Chief Ifenna Okeke, CEO of Acunalysis Lab and Hospital, and also Chief Chijioke Okunenyeife who accompanied him to Abatete donated about N7 million to Abatete, for the security networking of the town.

At the event, the Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, described the efforts as a public private community partnership, which he said the government encourages.

However, for Senator Ubah, security is something he is personally committed to and willing to invest in, because, it is a critical foundation for all development aspirations of a people, he said.

From Abatete, Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah moved to Enugwu-Agidi where he supported a similar community security surveillance initiative with 100 walkie talkies, street lights, and cameras. He also pledges the sum of N10 million towards the community’s security networking. Only about two weeks ago, some children were reported to have been kidnapped in Enugwu-Agidi by suspected herdsmen. But joint efforts by local security and the police led to their rescue in less than 24 hours.

Nearly one year ago, Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah spearheaded the security model in Nnewi largely and widely acknowledged as a successful security template in the face of persistent assault by faceless gangs on various communities in the Southeast.
