To ensure the safety of lives of residents in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital, and environs, the State government will spend N500 million for the installation of a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV).
Mrs. Munira Abdullahi, Commissioner for Finance, Budget, and Planning dropped the hint while giving the breakdown of the 2024 budget in Lafia, also said N600 million was allocated for the construction of youth centers in Karu, Keana, and Nassarawa–Eggon local government areas to cater for the needs of youths in the areas.

“We are going to install Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) in the state capital and its environs aimed at addressing prevailing trends including insecurity to pave the way for development to thrive,” she said.
Governor Abdullahi Sule had on December 29, 2023, assented to the 2024 budget tagged; “Budget of renewed commitment”, which stands at an estimated sum of N199.8 billion.

Mrs Abdullahi said the present administration under the leadership of Gov Sule attached great importance to accountability and transparency in the management of public resources.

“In this light, my ministry will closely monitor and track the implementation of all the projects, programs, and policies enunciated in the fiscal year 2024 budget, she said.

The commissioner said other planned infrastructure captured in the budget are the construction of five mini stadia at N700 million to boost sports activities in the state, dualization of the Shendam Road Phase II at N1.350 billion, and remodeling of youth centers in the state at N500 million, among others.
she thanked all the stakeholders, particularly civil servants, and members of the press for their support during the last fiscal year and solicited their maximum support toward the successful implementation of the 2024 budget of Renewed Commitment.

According to the 2024 budget analysis education sector took the lion’s share of N40.16 billion, followed by the Ministry of Health N26. 71 and the Ministry of Women Affairs got the lowest share of N909 million respectively.
