Mr. Mark Okoye, the Managing Director – MD of Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency – ANSIPPA, has said that the Anambra State Investment Summit whose maiden edition was held in September 2023, will now be an annual event and would therefore be held in 2024. Speaking during the Agency’s interface with select media practitioners entitled, “Partnerships, progress, and prospects”, Mark Okoye said that “there are plans for Anambra State Investment Submit in 2024”. Even more, Okoye declared that the Summit is now an annual event. “It’s an annual event”, he said.

Speaking on the lofty plans of his Agency, Mr. Mark Okoye also discussed the state of some of the MOU that were signed during the 2023 Investment Summit. He further explained the 200 million dollars from Afreximbank, while also assuring that the current administration and ANSIPPA, are working round the clock to deliver on core mandates. Talking about the various master plans that the government is working on, the MD of ANSIPPA said that the state is working on the tourism master plan. “We are working on tourism master plans for four locations”, Mark said. He also talked about the government’s plans to establish industrial clusters which will ensure coordinated industrialization of the state.

Reacting to a question on the 200 million dollars from Afreximbank, Mr. Okoye said the money is “equity investment” or what he also called “quoted finance”. The implication he said, is that the money is tied to an investment in the state through which the repayment shall be made when the investment matures.

Discussing the challenges of infrastructure in Anambra State, Mr. Okoye said that Anambra would be requiring billions of dollars to meet its developmental needs. “Infrastructure is not cheap”, Mark emphasized, while also remarking on his Agency’s commitment to accountability in line with the governor’s pledge to account for every public money.
