Following the beheading of a woman by yet to to-identified suspected ritualist in Jimeta, the twin capital of Adamawa state, no fewer than 70 registered hotels in Adamawa State risk fizzling out of business if they fail to install Close Circuit Television CCTV cameras in their business premises.

Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Kaletapwa George Farauta has six weeks for hoteliers to comply with government orders or have their business premises shut down.

Farauta stated this Monday during an emergency meeting with the hospitality business owners at Government House, Yola, that the directive came following the recent killing of a woman in Happy Day Hotel, Target Junction Jimeta, Yola.

The Deputy Governor described the killing as barbaric, and warnedand hotel owners to ensure the safety of their customers.

While acknowledging the roles of hotels in boosting tourism and revenue generation, added that henceforth negligence and insecurity in the hotels will not be tolerated.

She stressed that the protection of the life and property of the citizens is the Government’s top priority in Adamawa.

Earlier speaking, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr Edgar Amos announced that a committee has already been set up to go round and ensure compliance with the government’s directive.

In his remark, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sulaiman Nguroje, urged the public to give timely information to the police to enable them to take action immediately after an incident, as the police are committed to ensuring peace and stability in the state.

Samuel Aduata, the state chairman National Hotelians Association, assured of the union’s cooperation to avoid the future occurrence of the recent killing.
