Education has been described as a weapon for fighting poverty and unemployment in the country.
The chairman of Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board, ZSUBEB, Prof Nasiru Garba Anka disclosed this on Wednesday while receiving members of the State House of Assembly committee on education who visited the Board in Gusau for an oversight function.
Professor Anka assured that he would work hand in hand with the committee to improve the standard of education in the State and called on stakeholders in the State to redouble their efforts and complement the State Government’s commitment.
He also called on parents and guardians to always send their wards to school for them to acquire both Western and Islamic education to enable them to become useful members of society.
Earlier, the chairman of, the State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Hon Nasiru Abdullahi Maru noted that it is the first time that a professor was appointed to steer the affairs of the State Universal Basic Education Board.
He commended the State Governor, Dauda Lawal for appointing a competent and experienced person to serve as the State UBE chairman and expressed optimism that Anka would take the standard of education to the next level.
