The Independent National Electoral Commission Enugu has taken delivery of the sensitive materials necessary for the rerun election from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Dr. Chukwuemeka Chukwu, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in his office.
“INEC has taken possession and secured the sensitive materials for upward movement to the three respective local government areas involved in the re-run elections.”
The REC also revealed that the commission invited representatives of political parties and security agencies to witness the exercise for transparency, assuring stakeholders that the sensitive materials are all intact.
As for the non-sensitive materials Dr. Chukwu said it has been moved to the council areas involved in the rerun election; training, logistics, security, and other arrangements necessary for the election have been concluded.
The Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency and Enugu South (Urban) State Constituency re-run elections will be held in 173 polling units in 25 Registration Areas, also called political wards.
For Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency, there are 62,697 registered voters, 24 Registration Areas, and 165 polling units.
While for Enugu South (Urban) State Constituency, there are 4,618 eligible voters, 1 Registration Area, and 8 polling units.
