Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has ordered the release of three billion naira to the state pension board for clearance of the backlog of pension and gratuity of retired civil servants in the state.

Fintiri disclosed this Tuesday while receiving leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress ÑLC in Adamawa who were at his office to congratulate him on his victory at the Supreme Court.

“Retired civil servants in the state have labored for the development of the state, hence the need for the state government to ensure it has cleared the backlog of pension and gratuity as it will start by providing three billion nairas to the pension board from next week.

“The state government is aware of the gaps in the civil service and has plans for employment, but that will be done after the announcement of the new minimum wage by the federal government in April,” Fintiri said.

The Governor assured the labor leaders that the state government is ever ready to comply whenever that is done regarding minimum wage by the Federal Government.

While appreciating workers in the state for their support, called on the labor union to support and work together with the state government to develop the state, assured them that the state government will continue to provide palliative to them to cushion hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government.

The governor equally cautioned civil servants in the state to ensure punctuality at work, assuring that the state government will pay off the consequential adjustment it owed civil servants this February.

Earlier, the state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress ÑLC, Comrade Emmanuel Fashe described the state governor as workers’ friendly and explained that their visit was to congratulate him on the victory at the Supreme Court.

While appreciating the governor for the six-month wage awarded to civil servants in the state, the labor leader urged him to do more for the welfare of civil servants in the state.
