The Guild of Professional Bloggers of Nigeria has expressed shock over the death of the Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, along with his wife and son, in the United States, during an air mishap on Friday evening, at the early age of 57 years. The tragedy described by several people as one too many, also claimed the life of the former Chairman of Nigeria Exchange Group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo.

In a statement addressed to Access Bank entitled “Heartfelt Condolences from the Guild of Professional Bloggers of Nigeria to Access Bank & Family of Herbert Wigwe,” and signed by the president of the blogger’s group, Mr. Chris Nwandu, the death of Dr. Wigwe was described by Nigerian bloggers as a “tragic loss.”

The statement reads, “The Guild of Professional Bloggers of Nigeria (GPBN) extends our deepest condolences on the tragic loss of Herbert Wigwe in the helicopter crash on February 9th, 2024. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time, and we share in the grief of losing a visionary leader. May strength and solace surround you as you navigate through this profound sorrow.”

Many political and business leaders in Nigeria and around the world have been sending their condolences to Wigwe’s family and Access Bank, as well as Abimbola Ogunbanjo’s family.
