Africa Magic’s comedy series The Johnsons has come to an end after a 13-year run.
Charles Inojie who played the character of Mr Lucky Johnson on the show announced “the end of the road” for the widely-watched TV drama via an Instagram post on Tuesday.
“Thank you, Africa. After 13 years of absolute magic, 13 years of awesomeness, 13 years of being Africa’s most-watched show on television, 13 years of being every family’s favourite, The Johnsons is finally taking a bow,” Charles Inojie wrote.
The Johnsons debuted on Africa Magic in 2012 and is ending after ten seasons and 1830 episodes. The sitcom revolves around the middle-class family of The Johnsons as they strive to survive in Lagos and slowly become successful.
It starred heavy-weight actors Charles Inojie as Mr Lucky Johnson, Chinedu Ikedezie as Efetobore Johnson, Olumide Oworu as Tari Johnson, Samuel Ajibola as Spiff Johnson, Kunle Bamtefa as Pablo, Seun Adebajo Osigbesan as Jennifer Johnson, among others.
The series faced challenges after the departure of Susan Pwajok who played Blessing Johnson, Ajibola and the demise of Ada Ameh, known for her role as Mrs Emu Johnson in 2022.
“Indeed, while it is the beginning of greater exploits from every individual member of the team, like every good thing that must have a terminal point, it is the end of the road for The Jonhsons,” Inojie added.
