The Chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Isiaka Olagunju has declared candidates of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) winning all 33 chairmanship seats and councillorship positions.

Mr Olagunju said a total of 19 political parties fielded candidates for various positions across the 33 local government areas.

Saturday’s election was said to have been characterized by low turnout, late arrival of electoral officials, and absence of electoral officials at some polling units.

Similarly, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in the recently concluded Council elections across all Local Government Areas in Gombe State.

Mallam Saidu Awak, the chairman of the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission (GOSIEC), announced the results in Gombe and said out of the 19 registered political parties in the state, only five fielded candidates participated in the elections.

“The elections were conducted peacefully, with the APC securing victory in all 11 LGAs as officially declared by the returning officers,” he said.

Reacting to the development, Alhaji Mohammed Garba, the chairman of Accord Party, Gombe, expressed acceptance of the election outcome, wishing the winners a successful tenure, saying the party contested the election to demonstrate its presence in Gombe.
