An outbreak of measles has claimed the lives of 42 persons in Mubi North and Gombi local government areas of Adamawa State.

Felix Tangwami, Commissioner for Health and Human Services who disclosed this Journalists in Yola, said the disease had affected 8 wards in Mubi North and 7 wards in Gombi local government areas, adding that all the 21 local government areas in the state except Lamurde have been put on red spot.

He said out of 131, 177 (one hundred and thirty-one, thousand, one hundred and seventy-seven) affected persons in the local governments, 42 persons died.

“Upon receiving the report of the outbreak, the ministry has responded swiftly and has been able to manage the situation promptly, Adamawa State Government and other partners are on top of the situation,” Tangwami said.

The Commissioner advised people to always take precautionary measures against the dreaded measles disease and to be wary of their environment.
