Ebaide Joy, a Nigerian lady is soon to become the first person to ride on a motorbike from Mombasa, Kenya to Lagos, Nigeria.

Ebaide began the journey on March 10, 2024, and she is expected to arrive Lagos by the end of May.

The trip will take her through African countries like Kenya: East Africa, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo Brazzaville, Cameroon and finally Nigeria.

The Edo State-born music artiste while speaking about what prompted her to embark on the journey, she said, “When I was 23 years old, I was involved in a car accident that put me in a wheelchair for several months and I had to undergo surgery to fix my spinal cord.

“That second chance at life gave me the inspiration to live life to the fullest and to explore the world. I had in the past converted an old van into a camper van to travel, at some point I spent some months traveling in a tricycle.

“I decided to buy my motorbike in July last year, I’ll be using the trans-African highway.

“Every day is an opportunity to remind myself that limitations only exist in my head. Living with titanium screws and rods, holding my spinal cord in place has never stopped me from experiencing life to the fullest.

“I chose a motorcycle. No vehicle makes me feel nearly as alive as my motorcycle does. I will be riding against the wind knowing that the course of my existence lies in my hands. I hope this motivates more people to kick fear in the face and live their lives on their own terms,” she said.

Ebaide is currently in Tanzania and she is expected to be in Zambia this week.
