The Adamawa State government has confirmed 143 cases of measles out of 818 it recorded from January 2024 to date across the 21 local government areas of the state.
Kadabiyu G. Jones, State Epidemiology, State Ministry of Health, Yola disclosed this during a media engagement in Yola and explained that most of the affected persons are unvaccinated children between the ages of 0-14 years.
He stated that the immunization embarked upon in the affected areas and neighboring communities across the state has reduced the spread of the disease.
The State Epidemiology reiterated that the week closure of the schools by the state government is to enable health personnel to mitigate the risk of the disease.
Jones called on parents and caregivers to avail their children of immunization to protect them from contracting their disease.
