Nigerian artists take centre stage at the prestigious 2024 BET Awards with an impressive seven nominations. The nominations, announced on Thursday, solidify Nigeria’s position as a powerhouse in music and celebrate the incredible talent emerging from the country.
Leading the charge is Afro-fusion giant Burna Boy, who scored nominations in both the “Best Male Hip Hop Artist” and “Best Male R&B/Pop Artist” categories.
Joining him are a diverse range of Nigerian talents: Ayra Starr, Asake, Tems, Davido, Lojay, and Seyi Vibez.
Fast-rising star Ayra Starr leads the pack with a chance to win three awards – “Best New Artist,” “Best African Act,” and “Best HER.”
Another rising talent, Tems, also secured double nominations – “Best Video Director” and “Best Gospel/Inspirational Song.”
Asake and Seyi Vibez, two of the hottest names in Afrobeats, received nominations in the international categories. Asake is up for “Best International Act,” while Seyi Vibez is vying for the “Viewers Choice Best New International Act” award.
Rounding out the list are Davido and Lojay, who scored a joint nomination in the “Viewers Choice Award” category for their collaboration on Chris Brown’s “Sensational.”
The 2024 BET Awards will be held on 30th June at 8:00 p.m. European Time and will be televised live on BET.
With such a strong showing, Nigerians are buzzing with anticipation to see who will bring home the awards.
