Taraba State Government has inaugurated a committee to investigate the activities of the Taraba State Television following the suspension of the General Manager of the station.
Inaugurating the committee on behalf of Governor, Agbu Kefas, the Taraba State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Yakubu Maikasuwa, urged members to adhere strictly to the terms of reference.
He urged them to be just and fair in their assignment and distance themselves from witch-hunting any person.
The five-man committee is headed by Justice Hamidu Audu and its terms of reference include investigating the station’s revenue inflows from advertisements and other revenue streams.
The members of the committee were also urged to assess the sustainability strategies used to ensure debt reduction and savings at the station, why the station has been off the air for quite a while, and investigate the alleged insubordination and lack of adherence to the directive to use part of the monthly overhead to reduce debt.
The committee has been directed to recommend whether the station should pursue full or partial commercialization for self-sustainability.
The secretary of the committee, Liberty Andrew has called for the submission of memoranda from the public, staff of the station and other professional unions.
