The Kano State Police Command has arrested nineteen suspects in connection with armed robbery, cattle rustling, kidnapping, and other banditry-related crimes.
Superintendent of Police, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Command Police Public Relations Officer, who disclosed this to newsmen in Kano, attributed the success to robust crime prevention patrols and intelligence gathering.
SP Kiyawa said the investigation is ongoing and the suspects will be charged in court, adding that two AK-47 rifles, one smoke pistol, one pump action rifle, 26 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, 17 live cartridges, two motor vehicles, 16 rams, and other dangerous weapons and housebreaking implements were recovered from the suspects.
He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, assured the public of the command’s resolve to protect law-abiding citizens’ lives and property.
