Following a minor skirmish between hoodlums and Security Operatives at the Kugiya market, rampaging hoodlums destroyed several cars and razed buildings in Bukuru Metropolis, the Headquarters of Jos South Local Government Council of Plateau State on Monday evening.
It was gathered that the crisis broke out at the community at about 2pm while operatives deployed to the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) went into the locality to implement the Executive Order recently signed by the state Governor, Caleb Mutfwang.
The irate youths according to reports were spotted with arms, cutlasses, clubs and other dangerous weapons with which they resisted the Security Operatives who wanted to implement the Execution Order 003 of the state governor, rather they resorted to violence by burning cars and shops of innocent citizens .
Mr. Garba Tanko, an eyewitness stated that over 10 cars close to a supermarket in the community were razed down by the hoodlums.
According to him, the JMDB, along with security agencies, mostly the police and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) had gone to effect the Executive Order when the hoodlums suddenly went berserk and confronted officials of the Board and the security men.
Recall that the Governor Caleb Mutfwang had signed an Executive Order to control the illegal erection of buildings and traffic in the state.
The Executive Order No. 003, 2024 became imperative considering the indiscriminate manner in which buildings being erected and traffic control abysmally degenerated within the Greater Jos Master plan as well the prevalence of building collapse in the state.
It was gathered that it took the intervention of security operatives to calm the situation.
Meanwhile, Governor Mutfwang of Plateau State has condemned the action of the hoodlums who went berserk attacking properties of innocent citizens of the state.
Director of Press affairs to the governor Gyang Bere also condemned the action of the hoodlums and directed security operatives to bring the situation under control.
