Police operatives attached to the Delta State Command have killed a member of a notorious kidnap gang in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the Delta State.

According to reports, a team led by ASP Julius Robinson on the CP’s special assignment stormed a criminal hideout along Ughelli – Patani road by an abandoned filling station on Thursday following reports of incessant robbery and kidnapping along Adjekota- Igor Communities axis of Ughelli North.

The hoodlums, according to reports on sighting the Police opened fire on the team and the police gave a superior response.

During the gun duel; it was revealed that one of the hoodlums sustained serious gunshot injuries while others escaped.

The Police Public Relation Officer, SP Bright Edafe further revealed that the injured suspect was taken to the hospital where he died while receiving treatment whilst two Baretta pistols and five (5) rounds of live Ammunition were recovered as a manhunt for the fleeing suspects is ongoing.

In a related development, the police team led by ASP Julius Robinson stormed a criminal hideout in Sapele where four suspects namely; Amechi Ichiagu “m” 25yrs of Ozalla Town in Nkanu West LGA Enugu State, Akpomiemie Larry ‘M” 32yrs of Jesse Community in Ethiope West LGA Delta State, Bright Ovie ‘m’ 36yrs of Ugbomaja Community in Ethiope West LGA Delta State, Ese Ogodo “m” 35yrs of Okpe community were arrested in possession of locally made cut-to-size gun

CP Olufemi Abaniwonda however urged Deltans to be vigilant and conscious of their surroundings whilst going about their businesses without fear.
