Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, has appealed to youths in the State not to participate in the planned protest scheduled to commence in August 1st, 2024.
Soludo made the appeal through his Chief of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeahajuhi while speaking to Journalists shortly after attending the 2024 South East Media Summit/Awards ceremony in Awka.
Soludo aide reminded youths in the state to take cognisance of the verifiable moves the Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo-led administration had made to secure the future of youths in Anambra State.
According to him, with the current transformation policies of governor Soludo, particularly, the “one youth, two skills empowerment programme, there is no need for Anambra youths to take part in the unwelcome protest.
“We are assuring you that your future is secured under Soludo led-APGA government. You also can see how the government has been clearing the rot in the state’s social security intervention programme and ensuring that what is meant to assist the most vulnerable among us, this time, gets to the right people across the 21 local government area of the State.
“We don’t need protest in Anambra State. Anambra people are doing great in their various field of specialization.
He appealed to youths that rather than risk a protest that might end up with everyone licking wounds, efforts should be geared towards a platform to engage the government in discussions that would open its eyes to more areas of needs.
Also the Chief Protocol officer to the governor, Chief Chinedu Nwoye (Glamour), in his cautious speech, concluded by stating that the Anambra Government was working with other relevant partners to see how the youths in Anambra would be getting abreast of information of the current government policies targeted mostly for youths in the state
The event was organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), South East zone.
