The Kano State Police Command has arrested a notorious armed robber, Hassan Iliya, 35 years old, of Alhazawa Village, Musawa LGA, Katsina State, while attempting to escape on a motorcycle.

The Command spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa in a Press Statement said the arrest followed a report on 05/08/2024 by a resident of Yandadi Village, Kunchi LGA, Kano State that armed robbers stormed his residence, attacked him, and robbed him of N15, 000,000.00.

The statement explained that two AK-47 rifles with 47 rounds of live ammunition and the sum of N4, 986,000.00 were recovered from the suspect.

The statement reads in part: “Despite the management of the ongoing Nationwide Protest, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, directed a team of detectives to conduct intelligence-led patrols to arrest the culprits and recover their operational weapons.

“A spot search revealed a sack containing two AK-47 Rifles with 47 rounds of live ammunition and cash, totaling four million, nine hundred, and eighty-six thousand naira (N4, 986,000.00). The investigation is ongoing”.

The statement quoted the State Commissioner of Police CP Salman Dogo Garba urging the public to remain patriotic, avoid acts capable of instigating violence, and remain vigilant.

The command also called on the public to report suspicious movements and activities to the Kano State Police Command through 08032419754 08123821575, 09029292926.
