The Adamawa State Branch of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has announced a change in its leadership in its just concluded Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Scientific Conference, which was held from 1st- 3rd August 2024.

The statement issued by the NMA’s new PRO, Dr Bilal Shuaibu Yahaya revealed that the theme of the conference was ‘Public health and climate change’.

The speakers at the event enumerated the effects of climate change on human health and the management of heat stroke.

Dr Yunusa Mohammed Dahiru, newly elected NMA chairman in his remark assured continued unity and welfare for his members among others.

The Chairman also recognized the effort and achievement of the executive Governor of Adamawa state in the health sector.

“We look forward to collaborating with the Adamawa state Government in providing quality health care delivery to the good people of Adamawa state,” he said.

The new chairman further emphasized that under his leadership, the State Officers Committee (SOC) shall work closely with all the stakeholders to move NMA to greater heights.

“The new SOC will support policies that support continued medical education and advancement for the benefit of all Adamawa state citizens while thanking all the members for finding them worthy to serve the association,” he said.

Dr Yunusa Mohammed Dahiru Consultant Radiologist and Head of the Radiology Department Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital MAUTH Yola and a senior lecturer with Modibbo Adama University, MAU Yola, Adamawa state.

The NMA’s new SOC in Adamawa state is Dr. Yunusa Mohammed Dahiru, Chairman, Dr. Nathaniel Birdling Noel, Vice Chairman I, Dr. Aliyu Sahabo Gurin Vice Chairman II, Dr. Cyril Awhoyo Jomusu, Secretary and Dr. Rephath Pius Assistant Secretary.

Others are Dr Kaleb Abalis Abews, Financial Secretary, Dr Aniekan Ifon, Treasurer and Dr Bilal Shuaibu Yahaya as Public Relations Officer.
