NewsNigeriaPolitics“Ikemba Played the Big Role in APGA’s Acceptance,” Njoku Says as he Visits Ojukwu Jnr

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance – APGA, Chief Edozie Njoku, has said that Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Ikemba Nnewi, played a major role in the party’s acceptance across the Southeast. Speaking in an exclusive interview with the West African Pilot News, after a visit to Chief Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu Jnr, Chief Njoku said that his visit with the members of his National Working Committee – NWC, to Ojukwu Jnr, signifies respect and recognition to whom it is due. “You know that Ikemba played the big role in the acceptance of APGA in the Southeast, particularly in Imo State. He was so loved that people pulled their shirts and spread them on the ground for him to walk on. Emeka is the Ojukwu that we can see today”, Chief Edozie Njoku said.

Describing the visit to Emeka Ojukwu Jnr at his Abuja residence, the National Chairman of APGA, Chief Edozie Njoku, held that it was an official visit with the members of his NWC and that they were assured of full support by Ojukwu. According to Njoku, “We went on an official visit. We went to go and see him, and he assured us of all possible support that may be required.” Only a few weeks ago, Chief Emeka Ojukwu had written to congratulate Chief Edozie Njoku as the APGA National Chairman, expressing confidence in his leadership of the party.

In a separate reaction, Chief Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu regarded the visit as an honour, highlighting Edozie Njoku’s favourable disposition to his father, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu. “It was an honour for me that Edozie came to visit with members of his NWC. I have known him for many years, since the days of the Igbo Improvement Union. My father had high regard for him because Edozie is not a sycophant. A few times after meetings, my father shared some inputs with me and had mentioned Edozie to me a few times during those conversations,” Emeka Ojukwu said.

Speaking on Edozie’s credentials in leading the party, Ojukwu emphasized that his confidence in Edozie’s leadership is total. “I know that he (Edozie) had in him the ideals upon which APGA was originally set up. He is a man of integrity and with him, we have a chance to rebuild APGA to a full national party.” Therefore, Ojukwu reiterated his support to Njoku and his team affirming that it is absolute. “I am absolutely giving the current leadership full support. The leadership represents the true ideals of APGA. If you watch since his victory, he has extended the olive branch to all. He has the ‘no victor and no vanquish’ approach, which I think will help to grow the party,” Chief Emeka Ojukwu concluded.
