Ahead of local government elections in Kano State, twenty (20) chairmanship aspirants have tested positive for multiple drugs screening exercise.
The Kano State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Abubakar Idris Ahmad, who disclosed this, explained that the aspirants presented by the ruling NNPP in the state tested positive for substances, including opioids, hemp benzodiazepines and nicotine.
“While no female aspirant had tested positive so far, the screening process was ongoing and that more candidates were expected to be tested before the final verification by the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC),” Ahmad said.
44 chairmanship and 484 councillorship positions would contest in the forthcoming local government elections scheduled to be conducted by Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC)on October 26,
