…50 US colleges to participate
The US Embassy in Nigeria will host the 23rd annual EducationUSA College Fair from 17 to 19 September 2024 in Abuja and Lagos.
The fair would provide Nigerian students the opportunity to interact with international admissions officers from 50 top US universities.
Among the participating institutions are Harvard University, Columbia University, The George Washington University, Tulane University, and Spelman College.
According to the US Embassy, the fair will allow prospective students to explore various academic programmes at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. Participants will also have access to information about the student visa process, financial aid, and the cultural experience of studying in the US.
Speaking on the event, US Mission Public Diplomacy Counselor, Lee McManis, stated, “The upcoming EducationUSA college fair is a great way to explore the amazing educational opportunities that the United States has to offer.”
Nigeria remains the top African country sending students to the US, with over 17,000 Nigerians pursuing degrees in the 2022-2023 academic year.
“Nigeria sends more students to American colleges and universities than any other country in Africa and is the seventh largest source worldwide of international students to the United States,” the US Embassy stated. “In academic year 2022-2023, a record-breaking number of more than 17,000 Nigerians pursued U.S. graduate and undergraduate degrees.”
The fair will kick off on 17th September at the NAF Conference Center, Abuja, before moving to Lagos on 18th September at the Ecobank Pan African Center and concluding at Pistis Hub, Maryland, on 19th September. Attendance is free, but registration is required.
