Gov Mbah orders Security Agencies in the state to produce the killers within 48 hours.

The Commissioner of Police Enugu State Police Command, Kanayo Uzuegbu has ordered discreet investigation of the gruesome murder of Mr. Stephen Aniagu, Chairman Ogbete Main Market Traders Association (OMATA).

The deceased was gunned down at Topland, along Amechi Road, Enugu, around 8:20 p.m. Saturday night, 14 September 2024.

An official statement released by DSP Daniel Ndukwe, Police Public Relations Officer, reveals that Aniagu was confirmed dead by doctors when police operatives rushed him to hospital; his remains has been deposited in the morgue.

“A preliminary investigation reveals that the unknown armed hoodlums, operating in a Toyota Corolla car, double-crossed and shot the victim, making away with his blue-coloured Toyota Corolla car. He was taken to the hospital by police operatives who hastened to the scene but was confirmed dead by doctors.”

Condemning the dastard act, the Commissioner assures the public that the police will leave no stone unturned until they bring the perpetrators to book.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), has ordered tactical squads of the Command that are on the trail of the assailants to deploy all the intelligence and operational resources at their disposal to hunt the criminals down. He also orders the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State CID to conduct a discreet investigation to unravel the circumstances of the incident.”

Meanwhile, the Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has directed the Security Agencies in the state to produce the killers of late Aniagu within 48 hours.

“As we have always maintained, and every merchant of death or criminal in the state ought to know by now, we have demonstrated the capacity to bring them to book. We have the will, technology, and resources to hunt down such perpetrators of wickedness. Those behind this atrocity have bitten more than they can chew.”

“They have murdered sleep, hence neither they nor the government and security agencies will sleep until they are captured, and justice served in accordance with the law sooner than later,” Governor Mbah said.

The State Governor then urges Enugu residents to go about their lawful businesses promising that security of lives and properties remains the priority of his administration.

“I commiserate with Chief Aniagu’s family, community and OMMATA. I urge them to find solace in the service he rendered to our dear state and the fact that his killers will never go scot-free. It is a promise,” The Executive Governor of Enugu State Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah promised.
