Sir Paul Chukwuma has condemned a deadly attack by gunmen at Nibo, a suburb community in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State. The incident which occurred on Sunday afternoon, left no fewer than 10 people dead with an unspecified number injured. This tragic event is only one of such security challenges Anambra state has been facing for a while now.
In a statement signed by Mr. James Eze, the Spokesman of Sir Paul Chukwuma Campaign Council, Mr. Chukwuma condoled with the families of the deceased and condemned the act, while charging security agencies to bring perpetrators to justice. This tragedy, Paul Chukwuma said, “highlights the growing insecurity plaguing Anambra State. It is heartbreaking that what was meant to be a joyful cultural celebration has been turned into a scene of horror and bloodshed by senseless violence. I extend my deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and pray for quick recovery of those injured in this despicable attack,” part of the statement reads.
Pointing to the significance of the attack as evidence of government failure, Mr. Chukwuma said that the people of Anambra State deserve better. “The people of Anambra deserve better. We cannot continue to live in fear in our land. It is time for decisive action to safeguard our communities and prevent such tragedies from happening again”.
Sir Paul Chukwuma also called on security agencies to comprehensively investigate the incident with the view of bringing perpetrators to justice.
