President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after a two-week vacation in the United Kingdom, UK, and a brief visit to France.
Tinubu’s arrival was confirmed on Saturday night by his office with footage showing the presidential jet landing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The President, who left the country on October 2, embarked on the trip as part of his annual leave.
In a statement issued before his departure, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the President “will use the two weeks as a working vacation and a retreat to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms.”

After spending ten days in the UK, Tinubu proceeded to France for what was described as an “important engagement.” This was confirmed by Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Senior Special Assistant on Political and Other Matters.
Although the trip was initially scheduled to last two weeks, the President spent additional days abroad.
Upon his arrival in Abuja, Tinubu was received by several dignitaries, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila; Finance Minister Wale Edun; Budget and Economic Planning Minister Atiku Bagudu; National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu; and the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Onanuga also confirmed Tinubu’s return through a social media post, saying: “President Tinubu returns to Abuja after his two-week vacation abroad.”
During Tinubu’s absence, Vice-President Kashim Shettima also left Nigeria for a two-day working visit to Sweden.
This simultaneous absence raised concerns among Nigerians, who criticised the unavailability of the country’s top leaders.
However, the Presidency dismissed these concerns, stating that the absence of both the President and Vice-President did not amount to a leadership vacuum.
