The National Chairman, Action Alliance (AA), Bar. Kenneth Udeze has said the Abuja High Court judgment which ordered the Federal Government to stop releasing monthly allocations to Rivers State is not enforceable.
Udeze who stated in an interview that the judgement is politically motivated, saying that it’s impossible to stop allocation to an arm of government and urged Rivers people to stand against the judgement.
Udeze said, “The judgement came to me as a rude shock because ordinary I don’t see reason why the judgment to seize the Rivers State allocation should take place when matters that have to do with the leadership of those that defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is still a subject of litigation at the court of Appeal even to the level of the Supreme Court.
“I have to encourage the Rivers people to stand firm in defence of democracy. What we’re practising is Federalism in as much as it’s left to be true or not. I know that this judgement is unenforceable. It has become a height of judicial rascality. I don’t see any reason why such will take place. Are you going to stop the allocation to a state that is within the sovereignty of Nigeria? You can’t remove the allocation that is meant for an arm of government. It’s ridiculous. We see it as politically motivated judgment. I’m glad that the government of Rivers State has gone for appeal. I believe this decision will be thrown out at the level of the Court of Appeal because it’s known that all these things are manifestly coming from the pro-Wike lawmakers.
Udeze added, “If you have defected and looking for a way to come back again to impeach the governor, Nigerians are aware of what is happening in Rivers State. The judgment cannot stand. I don’t see anybody that can stop Rivers allocation. The issue is already on appeal, it has to do with the removal of the Speaker and 27 lawmakers. It’s still before the court of law and you’re just trying to arm twist the government.
“I want to use this opportunity to call on Rivers people to stand against this judgment, and having gone to the court of Appeal I know that the appellate court will do justice to it.” He added.
