Vice-President Kashim Shettima has expressed optimism that Nigeria’s economy will experience significant growth by 2025, attributing the positive outlook to President Bola Tinubu’s policies and commitment to economic transformation.
Shettima stated this on Saturday at a retreat organised for presidential aides and heads of units in his office, held in Abuja.
He noted that recent improvements, including achieving a crude oil production level of 1.8 million barrels per day, signalled progress in the nation’s economic recovery.
“President Tinubu is determined to change the fortunes of the nation. We all want to bequeath to the younger generation a united and progressive country,” he said.
Acknowledging existing economic challenges, Shettima expressed confidence in ongoing recovery efforts.
“Yes, the economy has and is experiencing challenges but we have turned the corner. As of now, we are producing 1.8 million barrels of oil per day. The economy is on an upward trajectory, and I believe in the new year, the economy will grow in leaps and bounds,” he stated.
The Vice-president also called for collective efforts in supporting President Tinubu’s agenda. “The country is greater than all of us. I urge you, let’s work as a team and as a family,” he added.
Speaking earlier, Hassan Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice-President), said the retreat was aimed at fostering collaboration and generating innovative ideas among aides.
According to Hadejia, the event was designed to ensure seamless execution of tasks assigned to the vice-president’s office.
He added that it sought to enhance strategic communication, streamline project funding and partnerships, and improve coordination between the office and other ministries, departments, and agencies.
The retreat provided an avenue for strategic planning towards the effective delivery of the vice-president’s mandate.
