Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the dissolution of the governing councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions in the state, effective immediately.

This decision affects institutions such as Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma and the Edo State University, Uzairue.

The governor also approved the immediate disengagement of the management staff of Edo Specialist Hospital and Stella Obasanjo Hospital, Benin City, also with immediate effect.

These decisions were conveyed in a government announcement dated 20th November 2024 and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor.

The information was further confirmed in a statement released on Wednesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua.

The affected members of the governing councils are expected to hand over all government properties in their possession to their respective heads of institutions.

Similarly, the management staff of the affected hospitals are to hand over all government properties in their possession to the most senior officer in their various institutions.
